And it's back to the daily grind of trying to come across as a normal person...Ever feel like that? No? Oh, it's just me then...
Over Christmas I was introduced to a gentleman whose name denoted a kind of fabric - not Serge; think Velvet, Tweed, Hessian, something that was a bit unusual. My brain, like the robot in Lost in Space, was totally unable to process this: Does Not Compute. I stared at him in confusion for what seemed like several minutes, till he said kindly: You can call me Peter, if it's easier.
So, what has the new year in store for you? Personally I'm considering happy pills and/or HRT. I need my bloom back. And my memory. And my decision-making processes. Where have they all gone? Same place as all the flowers? Who knows?

I know what you mean about names! The worst thing is recalling faces with complete clarity, bouncing forward and then standing tongue tied while you search the memory banks for what to call them.
Was he petersham, by any chance? Poplin? Chintz? I think 'Buckram Seersucker' might make an excellent name for a detective character myself..
His name was actually Twill, Penny. That, or Twirl - we were divided on pronunciation, but I couldn't get my head round either.
Buckram Seersucker - great name!
Daily grind of trying to come across as a normal person. Yes i know that feeling!!
Hope you find your bloom - happy new year!
Hi Casdok - I hope a wonderful 2009 awaits you and C.
Hopefully your bloom will be back before spring :o)) I'm quite good with names, as long as they're easy to pronounce!
As for the new year, I just hope I can keep up the 800 words a day writing habit I aquired over Christmas!
Hi Karen - am very impressed with that 800 words a day habit you've got into. Not sure I've written 800 words over the entire holiday. 8 words would be nearer the mark. You keep it up!
Thought he was going to be called Grosgrain.
Good luck with finding your bloom.
Thanks, Womag! I'm looking and looking...
